Assessment

Assessments are a structured way to gain a deeper understanding of specific concerns, whether for yourself or your child. Below, you'll find who this process is suited for, along with a clear overview of what to expect at each step.

Who is this for?

Children and teens

Children & Teens

Most assessments are conducted for children and adolescents when there are concerns about development or school functioning.

When is an assessment helpful?

  • Attention, focus, or hyperactivity (e.g. ADHD)
  • Social or communication differences (e.g. autism)
  • Learning or developmental delays
  • Ongoing challenges in school

What the assessment may include

  • Cognitive (IQ) testing
  • Behavioural and developmental measures (e.g. Conners, GARS, Vineland)
  • Clinical evaluation to understand your child's profile

The goal is to provide a clear understanding and guide appropriate support.

Adults

Adults

For adults, assessments may be helpful in understanding:

  • Attention-related concerns (e.g. ADHD)
  • Autism or long-standing social differences
  • Patterns that have affected functioning over time

You may not always require a formal assessment. In some cases, these concerns can also be explored through therapy.
